Solventa6, the engineering company focused on photovoltaic solar energy based in Salt (Girona), has executed the first installation in Spain to use a Rapid Shutdown System (RSS) from Tigo Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: TYGO), a leading provider of intelligent solar and energy software solutions, with a presence in more than 35 countries. As an expert in fire protection solutions, Solventa6 has been in charge of the entire project, including the selection of materials and equipment, the design and installation of the plant, and compliance with the legal technical requirements.
The installation, located in an industrial building in Illescas (Toledo) owned by the Mountpark Industrial Logistics Group, has a total power of 371 kWp. To implement it, 834 photovoltaic modules and 432 Tigo TS4-A-2F Rapid Shutdown Module Level Power Electronics (MLPE) devices have been installed, a type of rapid shutdown that, by connecting two modules to each MLPE device, reduces installation time and makes it possible to reduce the number of connections compared to other devices that are installed module by module. The rapid shutdown installation is completed with two Tigo RSS Transmitters that transduce a PLC signal to the wiring of the chain, allowing the continuous installation to be shut down in its absence.
It is therefore a pioneering installation that will ensure the protection of the plant against electrical and fire hazards, as the system allows a quick and efficient powering down of the photovoltaic modules in the event of an emergency, thus allowing safe access for installers, firemen and maintenance technicians.
A feat that, as the company's General Manager Joan Traveria points out, “not only reflects Solventa6‘s ongoing commitment to innovation and safety, but also underlines Solventa6’s leadership as one of the leading companies in photovoltaic and fire protection solutions on a national scale”.
"As a growing number of electrical codes globally now require rapid shutdown devices to ensure the safety of first responders and customers alike, we are excited to see leading installers like Solventa6 deploy Tigo technology in the EU,” said James Dillon, Chief Marketing Officer at Tigo Energy. “At Tigo we prioritize quality across the entire value chain, and the team at Solventa6 again shows that solar can produce outstanding customer outcomes when everyone involved is committed to providing great products and services. Solventa6 has been a great collaborator, and we look forward to many more projects together.”
